Cao Dalong Tiancanjiao Wenwan Walnuts Pair | Broad-Winged Sculptural Form | 38.0mm × 39.0mm | LDTC-C1D6E

Product Description

This single-inventory listing features the exact pair of Wenwan walnuts shown in the product gallery.

Carrying the stock ID LDTC-C1D6E, this pair combines the recognizable structure of the Cao Dalong lineage with the highly unconventional Tiancanjiao form.

The pair measures 38.0mm × 39.0mm. Its most distinctive feature is the dramatically extended waistline and irregular lateral structure. Viewed from the side, the walnuts show broad, projecting ridges with a naturally twisted, sculptural silhouette. The low-set body and exaggerated wings give the pair a strong sense of movement that differs greatly from conventional symmetrical Wenwan forms.

The surface carries dense, layered texture with broad valleys and raised ridges. Both walnuts retain their individual natural irregularities while remaining visually balanced as a matched pair.

This is a particularly character-driven pair intended for collectors who appreciate unusual natural forms rather than conventional round or upright silhouettes.

The walnuts have been pre-cleaned / base-prepped and are ready for further brushing and long-term hand play.

The Story of the Form

The appeal of this pair lies in its departure from conventional Wenwan symmetry.

Rather than forming a simple round or heart-shaped outline, the shells extend outward through the central waist, creating a broad, almost wing-like profile. The ridges fold and overlap around the body, producing an architectural appearance when viewed from different angles.

The Tiancanjiao designation is used for walnuts whose natural growth creates this distinctive irregular and highly sculptural structure. No two examples develop in exactly the same way, making the overall silhouette an important part of the pair's collectible character.

Combined with the substantial texture associated with Cao Dalong-type walnuts, this pair has a particularly bold and unconventional presence in hand.

Product Characteristics

Sculptural Low Profile
The pair sits relatively low while expanding strongly across the waist, creating a broad horizontal silhouette.

Extended Natural Wings
Prominent lateral ridges project outward from both shells and form the defining feature of the Tiancanjiao structure.

Deep Layered Texture
Raised folds and recessed valleys create considerable surface depth and provide many contact points for brushing.

Individual Natural Character
The two walnuts are not mechanically identical. Small differences in ridge direction and outer contour reflect their natural growth while preserving the visual balance of the pair.

Collector-Oriented Form
This is better suited to collectors seeking unusual morphology and distinctive natural character than to buyers looking for a perfectly regular traditional shape.

Care

For the early stage of ownership, we recommend regular dry brushing to remove residual dust from the deeper valleys and to gradually develop an even surface.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, heating vents, air-conditioning outlets, or sudden temperature and humidity changes.

Do not soak the walnuts in water or apply heavy oils. Natural hand contact combined with patient brushing is generally the safest approach for long-term color and patina development.

Store the pair in a dry, stable environment when not in use.
