Compact Turtle-Shell Pattern Wenwan Walnut Pair — 31.0mm x 35.0mm | GJW-1101

Product Description

A compact and distinctive Turtle-Shell Pattern Wenwan walnut pair with rounded bodies, elongated central ridges, and broad natural paneling across the shell. Measuring 31.0mm x 35.0mm, the pair combines a relatively small hand size with a clearly defined, sculptural structure.

The defining visual feature is the shell’s turtle-shell-like patterning. Broad raised sections are separated by shallow natural lines and grooves, creating an appearance reminiscent of segmented shell plates. At the same time, the prominent ridge extends toward a sharper point, giving the pair a more directional profile when viewed from the side.

Both walnuts are closely coordinated in overall dimensions, ridge direction, body volume, shell tone, and surface structure.

This is a one-of-one listing. The pair shown in the photographs is the pair you will receive.

The Story of the Form

The Chinese collector name Gui Jia Wen refers to a turtle-shell pattern, describing the naturally segmented appearance of the walnut surface.

This pair shows that character clearly. Instead of extremely deep or chaotic grooves, the shell is divided into broader raised sections with finer natural lines running between them. These areas create an organized, plate-like texture reminiscent of the patterning seen on a turtle shell.

The long central ridge adds another layer of structure. From the side, it projects into a more pointed line, giving each walnut a compact but sculptural silhouette.

At 31.0mm x 35.0mm, the pair is relatively small, making it suitable for collectors who prefer a compact hand size without sacrificing visual character.

Product Characteristics

• Turtle-shell patterning: Broad natural panels are divided by fine grooves and shallow lines.
• Compact proportions: 31.0mm x 35.0mm dimensions create a manageable, smaller hand size.
• Pronounced central ridge: A long raised edge gives the walnuts a defined and directional profile.
• Rounded body structure: Full side walls balance the sharper ridge and keep the overall form substantial.
• Natural segmented texture: The surface has an organized, plate-like appearance rather than overly deep irregular grooves.
• Well-matched pair: Both walnuts show closely coordinated body volume, ridge direction, shell tone, and overall stance.

Care

These walnuts have already been pre-cleaned and base-brushed. During the first month, store them in a sealed bag when they are not being handled, allowing them to acclimatize gradually to your environment.

Handle them with clean, dry, bare hands and brush the grooves gently with a clean, dry walnut brush. Pay particular attention to the fine channels between the raised shell sections and along the central ridge.

Keep them away from water, oil, direct heat, and prolonged sunlight.
