[About the Wheat Grain Tiger Head Variety]
The Wheat Grain Tiger Head (Maisui Hutou) is one of the most celebrated classic varieties in scholar walnut history. Named for its tight, fine-textured vertical wrinkles that resemble cascading heads of ripe wheat, this variety combines a compact, elegant posture with sturdy, high-density rinds. Originating from high-altitude mountain orchards, it is famous for its bright, ringing chime during play and its rapid, uniform color evolution toward a rich mahogany red.
[Characteristics of MSHT-1003]
- 33.0mm x 33.0mm Compact Pocket Template: Featuring an agile, symmetrical footprint (33mm height / 33mm width), this pair fits perfectly in the hand for comfortable, effortless rotation and portable daily carry.
- Signature Wheat Grain Wrinkles: Displays dense, continuous vertical grain channels that provide excellent tactile grip and precise palm stimulation.
- Sturdy Tiger Head Silhouette: Characterized by broad, rounded shoulders tapering into a clean, sharp apex peak and a stable foundation base.
- High-Density Mountain Timber: Cultivated from mature wild stock, ensuring crisp acoustic resonance and exceptional long-term wear resistance.
[Basic Care & Aging Info]
This collectible pair is grown strictly for hand-play (pan) and mind-body relaxation, completely distinct from edible walnut varieties. Regular handling with clean hands allows the dense wood grain to absorb natural skin oils.
Artisan Coloration Tip: Daily brushing with a firm bristle brush cleans deep crevices and distributes natural oils evenly. When not in use, store the pair in an airtight bag or display container to maintain optimal moisture levels and promote a translucent, jade-like patina over time.

I am very happy with all my purchases and the attention given to each one. This is an outstanding company
Incredible service, I ordered a pair that sadly could not be shipped on account of a website error. Normally that would be a red flag; in this case however, an agent reached out to me immediately, allowed me to pick out an even higher quality pair and included some very thoughtful gifts. I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase and what started out as a mistake will have me returning here first whenever I want to expand my collection.
Class acts!
I ordered my Wenwans about 13 days ago. After contacting this company about a shipping issue they were able to solve it immediately as well as to rush the order. Literally just got mine today and they are absolutely gorgeous and very large! My Pair# is DGM-901. These are my very first high grades ones. Bought some crappy amazon ones for like 6 bucks to practice. I cannot wait to start my journey with these. I highly recommend this company for their outstanding customer service and quality control!
Thank you!
This company is Stellar. I’ve enjoyed the products I’ve Boughten for myself and gifts Ives given.
Love that you have miniature walnuts for those of us who have small hands.
These guys a great. Walnuts are high quality, and what you see is what you get, no random pairs that you may not like.
I've got 5 pairs off of them so far, and none have any flaws: no yellowing, pin holes, worm marks or cracks.
I'm not an expert, but I can't detect any dyes or processing on the nuts I have received.
They get back to you quickly if you have questions or issues.
Shipping is a couple weeks to canada since its off shore orgin. No big deal.
I do wish they would post the weights of the pairs as well in the listings, but this is minor.
I consider Zenwalnut to be the best north american walnut vendor hands down.
The box it came with is great and well made. The walnuts are out of this world. I don’t know how you find a three ridge mutation (Spartan motif) with such a good pairing. Even the basins complement each other, one elavated and the other depressed so they fit together. I highly recommend this seller if you want a reliable place where you can find rare, high quality walnuts. What you see in the pictures and videos is what you get. These are my second pair from zenwalnuts and I love both of them, thank you
The first pair I bought was a pair of minis, Packaging was amazing! Display case, and brushes were all under $100. I've been using them for just over a week. Excellent quality, I have dropped them once on accident of course over concrete while outside on the patio. I was quite concerned, I gave them a look over and no cracks, chips, or scratches were found. I am now looking into higher valued pairs. I will be buying other pairs for birthday gifts and collections. I posted them on FB and will continue to keep updates of the transformation every so often.
