About the Variety

Deeply revered within the traditional Wenwan walnut hobby, the Palace Lantern variety is known for its geometric balance and ergonomics.

• The "Imperial Lantern" Shape: This variety naturally restricts excess vertical growth, packing its old-growth wood mass horizontally to create a uniquely squatted, full-bodied equator that feels incredibly substantial in the hand.
• Tactile Ergonomics: The combination of a low-profile crown apex and a broad, rounded baseline provides turning leverage. The finely knurled, brain-like wrinkles provide deep, uniform tactile feedback and continuous crisp tactile feedback across the palm during daily sensory meditation.

This single-inventory listing features the exact, highly sought-after pair of Wenwan walnuts shown in the product gallery. Carrying the distinct stock ID GD-1102, this collector's set belongs to the rare "Palace Lantern" (Gongdeng) family, known for its beautifully rounded, symmetrical architecture that perfectly mimics the elegant profile of traditional Chinese imperial lanterns.

Measuring an impressive 43.0mm in width and a beautifully compressed, squatted 40.0mm in height, this pair showcases a signature ultra-low vertical profile. They feature smooth, dropping shoulders, an exceptionally wide equator line, and a highly complex, interconnected wrinkle matrix covering the entire rind. Fully cured, meticulously cleaned, and seasoned for international shipping, this set is entirely ready for immediate handling and display.

Key Characteristics of GD-1102

• 43mm Elegant Compressed Frame: Standing at an ultra-low 40.0mm height and a wide 43.0mm width, this pair presents a perfectly squatted, full-bodied silhouette that rests deeply and securely in the hand for active daily play (pan).
• Morphological Match: Both independent walnuts show phenomenal pairing harmony, beautifully mirroring each other with symmetrical dropping shoulders, uniform side profiles, and closely synchronized central ridge lines.
• Symmetrical Ridge Tracking: From both top-down and baseline perspectives, the set highlights incredibly consistent central edge tracks, even shell depth, and beautifully aligned center pathways running across both rinds.
• High Bone Density Wild Timber: Hard-grown in remote wild mountain orchards, the extra-thick shells possess organic density. When rotated against each other, they generate a clear, solid, porcelain-like acoustic chime.

Care & Aging Info

Grown strictly for art, collection, and hand-play (pan), these walnuts are entirely distinct from common food variants. Through regular handling with clean, bare hands, the high-density wood grain steadily absorbs natural skin oils.

Over time, this natural interaction causes the initial ginger-honey tones to transform into a deeply translucent, glossy, jewel-like red-brown patina. Because the signature Gongdeng texture channels are dense and closely woven, it is highly recommended to brush the crevices thoroughly with a standard bristle brush after each handling session to keep the valleys immaculate and achieve an even, radiant luster.
