[About the "Butterfly Millstone" Variety]
The classic Mo Pan (Millstone) is a legendary Wenwan variety beloved for its stable base, broad shoulders, and incredibly smooth, flowing ridges that provide a frictionless roll. The "Butterfly" (Hu Die) is a remarkably rare and highly prized structural mutation of this classic lineage. It earns its name from its dramatically exaggerated, flaring shoulders and intensely squatted depth. When viewed from the top or base, the flared edges and cinched center perfectly resemble the spread wings of a butterfly in mid-flight. This variety offers the quiet, soothing tactile feedback of a traditional Millstone but elevates it with a striking, elite "flying saucer" aesthetic.
[Characteristics of MP-807]
- Ultra-Squatted Winged Geometry: Measuring 37.0mm in width but an astoundingly shallow 33.0mm in depth. This massive 4mm differential is what creates the coveted "Butterfly" shape. The 37mm width makes them the perfect, discreet everyday carry (EDC), while the flattened 33mm depth allows them to sit incredibly close to the hand. They glide past each other like skipping stones, offering an effortless rotation that absolutely never stretches or fatigues the fingers.
- Silky "Millstone" Tactile Feedback: The surface showcases the signature thick, subdued ridges of the Mo Pan lineage. Because there are no sharp points, this dramatically shaped pair provides a deeply rhythmic, quiet fluidity, making them perfect for long, uninterrupted focus sessions in the office.
- Exaggerated Flared Shoulders: This pair beautifully captures the defining architectural traits of the Butterfly mutation, showcasing wide, striking edges that give them an undeniable visual flair and a completely unique center of gravity.
- Expert Aging Tip: To ensure a perfectly even, brilliant oxidation across the smooth shell, we highly recommend resting them in a sealed bag between handling sessions for the first two weeks. This expert technique safely utilizes natural hand oils and yields a vibrant, translucent red patina far more effectively than using gloves.

Incredible service, I ordered a pair that sadly could not be shipped on account of a website error. Normally that would be a red flag; in this case however, an agent reached out to me immediately, allowed me to pick out an even higher quality pair and included some very thoughtful gifts. I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase and what started out as a mistake will have me returning here first whenever I want to expand my collection.
Class acts!
I ordered my Wenwans about 13 days ago. After contacting this company about a shipping issue they were able to solve it immediately as well as to rush the order. Literally just got mine today and they are absolutely gorgeous and very large! My Pair# is DGM-901. These are my very first high grades ones. Bought some crappy amazon ones for like 6 bucks to practice. I cannot wait to start my journey with these. I highly recommend this company for their outstanding customer service and quality control!
Thank you!
This company is Stellar. I’ve enjoyed the products I’ve Boughten for myself and gifts Ives given.
Love that you have miniature walnuts for those of us who have small hands.
These guys a great. Walnuts are high quality, and what you see is what you get, no random pairs that you may not like.
I've got 5 pairs off of them so far, and none have any flaws: no yellowing, pin holes, worm marks or cracks.
I'm not an expert, but I can't detect any dyes or processing on the nuts I have received.
They get back to you quickly if you have questions or issues.
Shipping is a couple weeks to canada since its off shore orgin. No big deal.
I do wish they would post the weights of the pairs as well in the listings, but this is minor.
I consider Zenwalnut to be the best north american walnut vendor hands down.
The box it came with is great and well made. The walnuts are out of this world. I don’t know how you find a three ridge mutation (Spartan motif) with such a good pairing. Even the basins complement each other, one elavated and the other depressed so they fit together. I highly recommend this seller if you want a reliable place where you can find rare, high quality walnuts. What you see in the pictures and videos is what you get. These are my second pair from zenwalnuts and I love both of them, thank you
The first pair I bought was a pair of minis, Packaging was amazing! Display case, and brushes were all under $100. I've been using them for just over a week. Excellent quality, I have dropped them once on accident of course over concrete while outside on the patio. I was quite concerned, I gave them a look over and no cracks, chips, or scratches were found. I am now looking into higher valued pairs. I will be buying other pairs for birthday gifts and collections. I posted them on FB and will continue to keep updates of the transformation every so often.
