The Story of the Form

Qilin Wen takes its name from the Qilin, the legendary creature of traditional Chinese culture. The variety is recognized by its complex surface structure and strong sculptural presence.

This pair shows that character especially clearly.

The crown rises into a pronounced point before flowing downward through a network of heavy ridges, folds, and recessed valleys. From the front, the central structure creates a strong vertical axis, while the rounded side walls give the walnuts considerable body and volume.

At 48.0mm × 44.0mm, the proportions are substantial without appearing excessively elongated. The result is a pair with both mass and definition—large enough to feel imposing, but still visually balanced.

Product Characteristics

Large 48mm Presence
With a height of 48mm, this is a noticeably large pair with a commanding appearance in the hand and on display.

Distinctive Pointed Crown
Both walnuts rise into a pronounced crown, giving the pair a strong and recognizable silhouette.

Deep Qilin-Style Texture
The surface is built from dense natural folds, recessed cavities, and layered ridges rather than shallow decorative lines.

Strong Central Structure
A clear vertical ridge system runs from crown toward the base, giving both walnuts a defined architectural form.

Balanced Pairing
The two pieces coordinate closely in height, width, crown shape, texture density, and overall proportions.

Broad Side Profile
The 44mm width gives the pair substantial volume while maintaining the taller 48mm vertical silhouette.

Care

Keep the walnuts dry and protect them from sudden changes in temperature and humidity.

Because this pair has particularly deep texture, regular brushing is recommended to remove dust from recessed areas. A clean Wenwan brush with appropriate stiffness can help reach the deeper valleys without damaging the natural surface.

Avoid soaking, chemical cleaners, and excessive oil. Natural handling combined with consistent dry brushing is recommended for gradual color and patina development.
