Product Description

A distinctive “T-Rex” Wenwan walnut pair with a rugged, full-bodied structure, pronounced central ridges, and dense natural texture. Measuring 38.0mm x 40.0mm, the pair combines compact proportions with a strong, substantial silhouette.

The defining character is the pair’s heavy vertical ridge structure. Each walnut rises through a thick central spine surrounded by irregular folds and recessed valleys, giving the shells a powerful, almost armored appearance. The rounded outer body keeps the form balanced, while the dense texture adds depth from every angle.

Both walnuts are closely coordinated in body volume, ridge development, shell tone, and overall stance.

This is a one-of-one listing. The pair shown in the photographs is the pair you will receive.

Key Details

  • Stock ID: BWL-1101
  • Variety: T-Rex / Bawanglong
  • Dimensions: 38.0mm x 40.0mm
  • Quantity: One matched pair
  • Preparation: Professionally pre-cleaned and base-brushed
  • Availability: One pair only

The Story of the Form

The collector name “Bawanglong”  literally refers to the Tyrannosaurus rex, and the nickname suits the visual character of this pair.

The shells have a strong, rugged structure with thick raised ridges running vertically through the center. Around them, dense natural folds and recessed areas create a rough, heavily sculpted surface.

Unlike smoother or flatter Wenwan forms, this pair has a more forceful appearance. The central structure feels broad and substantial, while the rounded body gives the walnuts enough volume to keep the silhouette balanced.

At 38.0mm x 40.0mm, the pair remains manageable in hand while still carrying a bold, powerful visual presence.

Product Characteristics

  • Rugged T-Rex profile: Strong, heavily textured bodies give the pair a bold and substantial appearance.
  • Pronounced central ridges: Thick vertical structures define the front of each walnut.
  • Dense natural texture: Layered folds, recessed valleys, and irregular raised sections create strong depth.
  • Full-bodied proportions: 38.0mm x 40.0mm dimensions provide a compact yet substantial hand feel.
  • Rounded outer structure: Broad side walls balance the heavy central texture.
  • Well-matched pair: Both walnuts show closely coordinated ridge development, body volume, shell tone, and overall stance.

Care

These walnuts have already been pre-cleaned and base-brushed. During the first month, store them in a sealed bag when they are not being handled, allowing them to acclimatize gradually to your environment.

Handle them with clean, dry, bare hands and brush the grooves gently with a clean, dry walnut brush. Because this pair has dense, recessed texture, pay extra attention to the deeper valleys around the central ridges.

Keep them away from water, oil, direct heat, and prolonged sunlight.

Incredible service, I ordered a pair that sadly could not be shipped on account of a website error. Normally that would be a red flag; in this case however, an agent reached out to me immediately, allowed me to pick out an even higher quality pair and included some very thoughtful gifts. I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase and what started out as a mistake will have me returning here first whenever I want to expand my collection.

Class acts!

I ordered my Wenwans about 13 days ago. After contacting this company about a shipping issue they were able to solve it immediately as well as to rush the order. Literally just got mine today and they are absolutely gorgeous and very large! My Pair# is DGM-901. These are my very first high grades ones. Bought some crappy amazon ones for like 6 bucks to practice. I cannot wait to start my journey with these. I highly recommend this company for their outstanding customer service and quality control!

Thank you!

These guys a great. Walnuts are high quality, and what you see is what you get, no random pairs that you may not like.
I've got 5 pairs off of them so far, and none have any flaws: no yellowing, pin holes, worm marks or cracks.
I'm not an expert, but I can't detect any dyes or processing on the nuts I have received.
They get back to you quickly if you have questions or issues.

Shipping is a couple weeks to canada since its off shore orgin. No big deal.

I do wish they would post the weights of the pairs as well in the listings, but this is minor.

I consider Zenwalnut to be the best north american walnut vendor hands down.

The box it came with is great and well made. The walnuts are out of this world. I don’t know how you find a three ridge mutation (Spartan motif) with such a good pairing. Even the basins complement each other, one elavated and the other depressed so they fit together. I highly recommend this seller if you want a reliable place where you can find rare, high quality walnuts. What you see in the pictures and videos is what you get. These are my second pair from zenwalnuts and I love both of them, thank you

The first pair I bought was a pair of minis, Packaging was amazing! Display case, and brushes were all under $100. I've been using them for just over a week. Excellent quality, I have dropped them once on accident of course over concrete while outside on the patio. I was quite concerned, I gave them a look over and no cracks, chips, or scratches were found. I am now looking into higher valued pairs. I will be buying other pairs for birthday gifts and collections. I posted them on FB and will continue to keep updates of the transformation every so often.
